gatsby: I owe you a beer mate! Many years ago I was shown a WR Ovundo Explora, but many of my friends since have refused to believe such a gun exists! The fellow I thought had shown it to me, Vic P_, denied all knowledge, so my credibility was shot, so to speak.
I can now use your photo to win back a few bets!

Marrakai, I might take you up on that one day! There are at least a couple of Westley Ovundos with rifled choke barrels. Here is a better photo for your disbelieving mates.

Thanks for the pics, Gatsby: what a great-looking piece. I love the sights, all folding down for shot, I expect. The scope mounts might limit you to quail and rising clays, though.
The Explora script wins your bet, too, Marakai.

Krieghoff refused to furnish .500 Nitro Express barrels for my Teck O/U double rifle, so I'm having them made by a German gunsmith, using a Krieghoff monoblock.
Why they think an action which they routinely furnished in .458 Winchester Magnum is not strong enough for the .500 NE, I have no idea. I suspect they just didn't want to do the job and declined on that basis.
I will be in Germany for a week next month and hope to return with photos and a progress report on it and the other two DR's the same gunsmith is working on.
