Hi, I am not new to the forum but have just joined. Really enjoy the topics as I am a big game rifle fanatic. Recently I have been in touch with D'Arcy Echols from D'Arcy Echols & Co in the US looking at his rifles, I was really interested in his peep sight set up. He kindly sent me some photos which I would like to share with you.

Welcome!
I'm a little surprised that 318WR was still available!
D'Arcy does excellent work. A very good choice for your next rifle or special piece.

Finally got the link to the images right had to move them to another web page.

Yes his rifles look to be very well made and as I said the integral peeps sight in the square bridge looks like a winner.

Is the sight threaded for aperatures like a classic peep?
If not, I suppose looking through a tubular rear sight rather than a shorter ghost ring may help in keeping the sights truly inline.

The sight is not threaded and each is calibrated to the rifle by first installing the peep and then adding a universal test front sight to determine the height of the front ramp and blade by actually shooting the rifle. He claimes this is the easiest way in the long run.

Absolutley SOP - with a fixed height rear sight, shooting and trying various height front sights is the only way to zero the sights to the gun. Much the same for Express sights - the standing sight is zero'd the same way with different front sights, then the leaves are filed for longer ranges.

Not sure I understand the tunnel, except maybe for strength. If the hole closest to the shooter's eye isn't smaller than at the front, there can easily be too much glare with such a sight.

That rifle just shouts quality, doesn't it.
