Searcy Double
      #156803 - 18/03/10 02:15 AM

I have now the posibility to buy in good economical conditions a double rifle manufactured by Searcy (USA); as this manufacturer is not well known in Europe, i would like to get some information about them.

I have checked their web page, but not too much information:
- quality of their products ??
- artisan / hand made or mass produced ???
- reliable ???
- accurate ???

The rifle i am interested in is a 470 nitro, in very good contidtion and i never had hunted with such a big caliber... and i doubt because maybe recoil could be very strong...

Thank you for your help

Jose

Welcome to NE.

You will need to specify which model you are looking at.

I am not an expert in this manufacturer, is a boxlock ejector 470 Nitro.
I would say is the CLASIC model, i think is the cheapest of their catalogue.

Thank you

Well, plenty rave about them, the odd one doesn't.

I didn't at first,(mainly because the only one's I saw were on Shotgun actions) but then handled a couple of his newer guns (classics) and changed my mind over a few years and I tend to be critical.

So subject to the usual checks etc, it is probably like buying any other 2nd hand double.

At least with Butch Searcy you can call him up and
ask him about the gun.

I am sure others from the US will give you more robust reviews.

Searcy doubles tend to be stout and accurate. The action is strong, so you could regulate it for heavier loads if you wanted to. Some people complain that Searcy doubles are not as slim as some of their European counterparts, but that is probably a matter of personal taste.

2800 Pounds = $4164.... Someone got a steal of a deal.

I bid on the Searcy and missed it by $200. I guess I was too greedy. Well, the look continues...

Anyone know if the successful bidder was present at the auction or submitted an online bid?

500Bo,

If my memory serves me correctly it was a Telephone or an online Bidder.
