Well it's official... I'm the proud owner of a Verney-Carron Azur Safari Standard 450 three'n'a'quarter.... woohoo!!!

Now the long wait to get the gun here.

I'd just like to say that Ken is a really good guy to deal with and from what I can tell these guns are very reliable and pretty fair quality for the price...

Thanks John

Better hurry up if you want to organise a nitro express hunt. The place with all the pigs is booked-out till July next year!! Unless something else comes up...

Have to pay for buff and scrub bulls on that place but not the boar...

As many have mentioned the .450 has lots of projectile choices. That is why I bought a .450 no2 ten years ago. It shoots Hornady 500-grain bullets into 2 inches at 50 yards over a standing rest. I buy dozens of boxes of these at gun shows from folks who bought a .458 or .460 and it kicked too much and they sell everything on the cheap!

For what it is worth--I have examined dozens of vintage and new doubles when researching my book on the .600s. I think the VC is the best bang for the buck in a new double today. That is not to put the others down--they are all good--but the locking system on the VC won't shoot loose AND where can you get a new .600 for less than 23K? I like and only own vintage British doubles but if I were to buy a new one for utility use the VC would be my choice.

Lots of doubles and double info on my website. Enjoy.
Cal

I am very impressed with the V-C guns. Major problem for me was getting over the French thing.

Don

I must admit that the same thing was on my mind before deciding to order my V-C, but I have to believe that of the small percentage of the French population that would have anything to do with us it would be a gunmaker. I'm at peace thinking this is the case. I did change my brand of Scotch, though.
