Just saw this link while looking for some wood.

That is a good price! Famars has a great reputation and will stand behind their products. these are much better looking the the Heym or Krieghoff and the price is in line with what you receive as a finished product!

I did think that the wood looked fabulous. And don't Famars make many of the double rifles retailed by other companies? Beretta's sidelock 455 Series are made by Famars now AFAIK. This should be interesting and I wonder if anyone has seen one of these or shot them . . .

Daaaaaaaang! I'm just a sucker for bone and leather color case finishes like that. That wood is fantastic as well. If its straight throught the wrist, it forgets where it's going on the way to the butt.
Is the grain critical all the way to the pad on these mega boom sticks or should a fella just love those twisted trees on his shotties?

Yes, I would also like to know why you say that.
All I have ever seen of Famars has been good.

500,
I've seen some really bad stuff from FAMARS.
You have to watch out.
I bought a 28 ga. SLE FAMARS shotty once. When it came, I realized it was made on a 20 ga. frame. Looked like a fat lady. On top of that, it was never fit up right, The right barrel was off face. Not from use, but from poor fit. I sent it back.
Merry Christmas my friend,
Curl

Echoing what Curl said...I've handled a few FAMARS with wood issues. Either the wood wasn't seasoned and it shrank, or the finisher was an apprentice as the action metal was proud...On more than one gun.
Aside from that, I have also handles some that gave me that "gotta have it quiver". :-)
