Pre 64 M70 >375

Howdy, I have a question regarding the value of a Model 70 Pre 64 .375. An opportunity has arisen to purchase one of these babies from a friend who inherited it. I would like to know a fair price for the gun. The gun has gold inlays of a Lion and Kudu on the base plate and pistol grip cap respectively, and according to someone else is an "exhibition grade" gun. There is not a factory red butt, which leads me to believe it might be custom? Either way it is a beautiful gun and I am interested in purchasing it.

Values off hand? We both want a fair deal.

Some pitures would help, if it was all original it most likely would be worth more even if it is a custom job unless its from the Winchester custom shop, post some pics.

I have a Pre-64 (1952) M70 .375 H&H in excellent original condition (pretty much new) that is appraised at $4200.00 to $4600.00 but it's not a custom piece such as the one you're looking at. I would think that if the engraving, inlay, and custom stock was done at Winchester it would be worth quite a bit more. See if there is a Winchester collector's forum on the net where someone with a more in-depth knowledge of these things can help you.
