I've seen Hornady advertising that the 470 and 500NE are both getting a home in the DG line along with the 404 Jeffery.
Is it a safe assumption that Ruger are going to be chambering the NE cartridges in their No1 Tropical in the near future?

I truely hope so. If they do I might have to get a .500 NE

I would love one, It would be a great gun for buff and a cheap proposition to get such a big calibre in. Brass would be easier and cheaper too.
The 470 would not be a bad option either, tough decisions ahead I hope. I wonder if Federal would follow suit with 500NE as they already have the 470 load.

I agree...IMHO, the 500 Nitro is the epitome of ultimate african double..I have a .470 double --but am constantly wanting a 500 ..actually ran into one at the local gun shop today..which is very rare to see in that sporting goods store...but they do consign and trade so suppose that is why it was there... was a higher end Merkel double--in 500 Nitro...looked like new....price tag on it was $15,500.
IMHO, Once you get to that kind of money I would probably go with a Heym instead...

Good. I'm glad to see some reasonably priced ammo, and more importantly cases, in these calibers coming onto the market. Has anybody gotten their hands on any of their new 450NE brass yet? I'm interested in the quality.

I have the .500 Merkel you're looking for at 2/3 that price.

Thanks for the reply. I have read a comment or two (don't recall where) that their 450/400 brass had some uniformity issues. More data is always good.
