A Question for Our Scandinavian Friends
      #111456 - 10/08/08 12:15 PM

I have been hearing about fine double rifles being made from scratch in Sweden and Denmark by small shops in these countries. Somehow, web searches don't seem to show anything and the possibility is that these people have no websites. My question is do you gentlemen have any idea of the names of these people? Have you seen and shot their rifles? Would pictures be available? It would be nice to have this information over here.

Erik? Peter? Jens? Johan? Thanks for this information in advance and good hunting, everyone!

I dont think there are any gunsmiths in Denmark making double rifles. Not for a living anyway, but there is one in Klippan, Sweden. His name is Hans Englund and his website is: http://www.algonet.se/~englha/ .
There was an article about him in the Swedish magazine "Vapen" 2006/4, with some pictures. Send me a PM if You want a copy.

the two i know of in denmark that can do the job for you is:

http://www.nystrom-krabbe-as.dk/

or, per langvad, who dont got a web page, he really dont need it either, he is booked many years in advance. he would be like your JJ, but this guy engraves as well and he is real good.

Hans Englund and Ola Nyhus have already been mentioned.

PO Stenmark has built doubles, some of them been really nice. http://www.hjoggbole.nu/foretag/kolvmakeri/kolvmak.html

Stanley Stolz, trained at Fabbri, is also a very able man, most known for his engraving - not inexpensive.

Hagejärds Bössmakeri, made a fantastic falling block rifle, very competent smith.

Joakim Johansson is another promising talent on break top guns

Svaneknop, Peter and Johan,

Thanks for the replies. I would request you to please post any information that you might have in the future about these gunmakers. We don't know much about them in the USA (and, I am presuming from the lack of replies from elsewhere) in much of the rest of the world and it would be nice to have information about them over here - we do try to be the best forum related to double rifles in particular.

Best wishes and good hunting!

Johann,

A warm welcome to the Nitroexpress forums. As you would have seen some Scandinavian gunsmiths have been listed in the posts above. But of course, we would love to see pictures of your guns if you would please post them here. Also do tell us about your hunts in Africa and also about hunting in Iceland. I don't think we have any other member from your country and this would be very nice information for a site full of hunting and gun enthusiasts.

Welcome again and good hunting! Please post often.

Johann,

I am 100% with Peter on this - your rifles, both the bolt action Sako and your 7x57R are absolutely superb! So are the knives. If you permit us, one of us could copy and post the pictures from your website over here. Yes, I'll join Peter and invite others to form a chorus asking for more gun pictures.

Thanks in advance again and do post whenever you find time.

Good hunting!
