Well we have 4 of the most liberal people to run the state. The mayor of Chicago, Blogoivich as governor, and Durbin and Obahma for senators!!! all very anti gun

CowboyCS,
I live in one of the suburbs, Des Plaines, and my little town has no restrictions that Chicago has despite being administered by Crook county. We do refer to the Windy city as Sh1tc@go, BTW. A bunch of slimebags rules the place.
The rest of the state is lovely. Yes, unfortunately, Richard Daley and his band of thieves control a lot of what happens in the rest of Illinois.

Big Dog,
If you make it down here and have an evening free, give me a shout. I'll be most glad to buy you and your friend some beers if you'd like to join.
Cheers!

I don't get up to Chicago much. It is about 5 1/2 hours north of me. But I would be glad to take you up on your offer if I get up that way. If you are ever going through southern Illinois, I would be glad to have you drop by. We could sure talk guns for quite a while. I would be glad to pull out some of my play toys. Goes for the rest of my gun nut buddies on this forum. Just e mail me ahead of time.

Bigdog,
I hunted deer in Calhoun County in the small town of Michael IL twice and have been there a few times. Don;t travel much these days as I am at university studying for the final examination at my age. I shall certainly be in touch with you if I plan a trip there and if you visit Chicago, then you have to visit me and my little family and have some beers. This invitation is always open for friends from these forums.
Best wishes and good hunting!

Sounds good buddy. I talked to Steve on my 2 bore. He is finishing the wood now. Then checkering and a little engraving, then rust blue it and it should be ready to go. Probably about a month to 6 weeks from right now. I am looking forward to it!!

Bigdog,
I'm just one of the members here who would be waiting eagerly to see Steve's masterful work on your 2 bore. That said, the thought of it recoiling hurts!
Advance congratulations and very good hunting!

When Steve handed it to me, and I looked at the bore my first thought was, I've got irrigation pipe on my place smaller than this. I think it's gonna kill on both ends.

Bigdog - Just a guess, but I think you will be hard pressed to get 900fps, let alone anything higher. We just got back from a 10 day BP Rendezvous at Hefley Creek, B.C. There, we entered a canon match, which featured everything from small desk-top guns to 3/4", shooting from tables and small carriges with wheels on the ground, to larger 1 1/2" to 3" bores with fiberglass moulding to change them into full size appearing field pieces of Civil War and earlier period. : The cannon my team shot was only of 1 1/2" bore, not much larger than the 2 bore that Steve is building for you. We shot a 1.35" ball - very little larger than a 2 bore ball, with heavy patch and with only 300gr. of powder. This rocked the heavy gun and carriage (perhaps 600 pounds) back on it's wheels enough than that thought of shooting such a calibre from the shoulder would not be entertaining for the shootist, me thinks. All my best wishes to your next of kin.

The loading info I have shows a little different information. I wonder if your cannon bore being bigger than the bullet might not effect the velocity. Just wondering, as my info on the 2 bore loads may not be real reliable. I will find out after I get my 2 bore. thanks for your info on the cannon.
