Alan,

About 50 cents a round if you already have the brass and a bullet mould. IMR 7383 is a very bulky powder that works in most large cased NE's and is $3 a pound. Have had really great sucess with this powder in 470's and 500's.

From a reloading point of view for the first loading:

Primer- $0.03
Brass- $10.00
Powder- $ .45 (based on 44 rounds per pound @ $20 a pound)
Bullets-$ 2.00

$12.48 each for the first firing. $2.48 there after.

Factory ammo is off the radar screen in terms of price and it might not regulate in your gun.

Thats my take on it.

Corbin

I was more curios to see what factory ammo cost.

Thanks Corbin - interesting breakdown.
Kynoch prices per box in the US are roughly $200 for .600 and $130 for .577 - how that translates to A$ with shipping I don't know.

Last time I bought .600 NE ammo from Westley Richards it was US$125 per 5 shots, but I am sure it has gone up since then.

Sad to say $35 - $40 per round.

Hence Corbin Shell has the only workable

answer for the regular guy - 4 posts up.

Stars and Stripes ammunition, will load 577 ammo to standard specs for 250 -300 dollars for 20 rounds depending on the type of bullet you want. He does great work and is extremely knowledgeable. He has loaded several big calibers for me and he is very reliable. I think he does 600 nitro for about 600/box of 20.

$30.00 per round, still too much for regular Joes
to opt for in place of learning to reload it.

Jack, I realize they are still high, but they beat Kynoch or Wes. Rich. at 250.00 for a box of 5! Reloading is always the best when you can do it yourself.

I paid roughly $5.00 per case and $2.00 per bullet for .577 NE. Figure you'll get (typically) five shots out of Bertram brass before it splits, add in the cost of powder and primer and I guess about $3.50 to $4.00 per shot. Equal to a pint of a nice micro brew beer (Hales Pale Ale).

Kynock USA list the .577NE at $110.00 for five and $180.00 for five .600NE. My question is, since most guns chambered in these rounds are doubles, would it not make sense to sell either packs of four or six? A shot for each barrel?

Speaking of reloading, I can not get Fed 215 any more. I heard they won a huge Gov. contract and are producing for them only. Is this true?

Oh well..

Large bore factory ammunition is off the radar screen in terms of price!! Even from the "custom" ammo guys. Way too much $$$ in my book. Anyone wanting custom loaded ammo contact me. If I dont have the dies we can work something out. I can save you a LOT of money!!! Sample packs no problem. All flash holes deburred, primer pockets uniformed, case mouths chamfered and deburred. Each charge weighted and trickled to + or - 1/10th of a grain. I hate to see double rifle guys and large bore fans who dont reload get raked over the coals by the ammo companies. Anyone interested drop me a PM.

Corbin Shell, you are a GOOD FREAKIN' EGG !!!

And I mean that from the bottom of my New

York City raised HEART

To any one who has not had the pleasure of

chatting on the phone with Corbin he is great

"phone company", [and I am sure he's great

company in person too] and I am sure he can

be of excellent assistance with your reloading

needs. Some day he and I will be owning a pair

of 600 NE doubles to tote around and shoot

with you all in Texas and Pennsy and everywhere

else too!!!
