I am interested in buying a Heym 88B in 30-06. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences to share. -Rob

Hey R, isn't an 06 kinda small? You must be thinking about using it for varmints.

I have an 88 in 375 H&H and also have a Win 101 in 30-06. Both are rimless cases and function perfectly. If the Heym has scope bases and is scoped I can't see why it wouldn't be a very delightful gun to use. It would be excellant for african game from Kudu down. The Heym's are exceptionally trim and point marvelously. Very quick. Would be handy in thick brush also.

475guy- If it goes bang and is a double I like it. Seriously, I've always wanted a small bore double for brush hunting. Small and light is a big change for me. Maybe my flinch will go away and my retina will re- attach.-Rob

L2S, not unless I get the front sight on you first.
R, I can't picture you with a puny 06 after all those big pieces of brass you've posted over the last couple of years. Yeah, every now and then, it's nice to just something small just for plinking and pure enjoyment that won't beat you half to death. Whenever I find myself not in the right mind to shoot 416's and up, I just snag my itty-bitty CZ in 762X39. That thing is FUGLY but is 5 1/2# and shoots under 2" at 100 yds. with iron sights.

Its nice to shoot something that is pennies, not dollars, every time you pull the trigger...

Yeah I hear you. The little commie round is about 2-3 cents per round in bulk.

I actually have a secret to confess. Despite my love for the really big stuff, my next most favorite round is the .17 Rem. I built a little tack driving Rem 700 for it a few years ago and it has killed about 500 meadow grizzlies( ground squirrels) out to 350 yrds. It's a true .2 MOA gun and you can pick which eye to hit. The gun never even moves under recoil and you can enjoy the whole red-mist experience through your scope. This is unlike the .600 OK in which you have to wait a minute or two for your vision to clear so that you can again see the target!-Rob
