Nice,Honest 1903 Mannlicher with Vienna Mount
      #315628 - 25/04/18 03:36 PM

For the Mannlicher followers.
This one shows the bore doesnt have to look like new to shoot well and continue to be a serviceable and huntable rifle. Id describe the bore as Fair/Good and after careful cleaning was quite surprised how well it shot. Best group .6 at 100 yards and using the old scope still with good clear optics. Picture the next group at just on an inch. Need to fix that windage though!!
Scope numbered to the rifle, note " Made in Austria" on Barrel and scope. Just making sure we knew where it was made!.
The Vienna mounts never cease to to amaze, simple yet back they go to zero every time.
Nice to find them in this well used, but un abused condition
Hope you enjoy

Best
Eric

Congratulations on your new acquisition, Paradox; very smart with original scope with Vienner mounts.
Please share with us the manufacture year when you will strip the rifle.
Good hunting.

Is the '3' upside down (inverted) on the MS as well?

A very nice Mannlicher, that (stutzen, I presume?). Made to be used, still in use and useful. If that 'M' visible on your receiver ring is also part of a 'Made in Austria' roll engraving, that dates your MS to a range between 1924-38 (IIRC). Prior MS would not be stamped with country of origin, 1938-45 would be stamped 'Made in Germany'.

I'm fond of the claw mount on my 1922 proofed M1910, as well. Not a 'snapper', mine, it simply lugs at the front (2 slots), drops in at the rear, and has a single push button at the rear mount to release.

Instant 'zero'.

This, from the 1939 Stoeger, appears to be a 'Vienna Snapper'.

I began to suspect as much when I looked at your images again and spied the single trigger.

My M1910 is also the 'Takedown Model' (a dandy bit of kit):

Unfortunately for this leopard, Grand Dad had the moves like Schoenauer.

The more I look at your post, the more I realize what a tease you are for posting only 'detail shots'. Is that the fitted case? Do you have full length images of left side, bottom, top (with and without scope mounted)?

She sure is purrty, from what you've shown. Is that original blue on the action, bolt, barrel?

Thank you, for once again for sharing the pic of Grandad.
