Nothing to do with me, just saw the post on the Guntrader list. It's pricey, around twice+ what I paid for mine, but then the butt has the metal plate and looks original from the pics.

Yep, nice... Had pored over it a few times. Wrong side of the pond, and a bit pricey, but it looks like an excellent shooter in original conditions.

I have to wonder about the accuracy of a description given by a M/S owner who thinks his rifle comes from Germany.

Looks quite nice, but probably more than A$900 than I would want to pay for it. Note it is setup for open sights only too, so if not worth fitting scope mounts to it, or not in terms of its orginality, I would not be interested even at that price.

Most certainly this is a pricey rifle, also very similar to my own which I scoped up recently. The cost of scoping it with correct mounts as detailed in another thread is significant if one wants the job done to a high standard.

That rifle is priced very competitively for the US market.

I notice that the breech is marked "Made in Austria". My one which is later, is marked "Made In Germany" because it is post April 1938.

I prefer the carbine versions though, with set triggers...

I wouldn't trade it for mine. It came complete with a Lyman 36 receiver sight, and I traded for it with a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, which I bought on line for $1300.
