First 4 shots out of her, held center and hit high, next three held on the quarter, all touching on the X.

I'd say that your load development on that one is done!
Surely what you really want is a couple Brit falling blocks instead of that old Holland, right?

To echo Bwanabob - WOW!!

That is better than I can shoot with a .22RF target rifle!!

A very interesting best quality rifle on the cusp of H&H's new factory manufacture from the previous W&C Scott/Philip Webley guns/rifles

It has Scott's intercepting sear safety and the Jones' underlever, used for the added strength in rifles at the time, less common in later hammerless rifles

The epitome of the Rose and Scroll engraving (my personal favourite) before the later foliate style, although almost a transition between the two styles

Although I prefer Hammer Rifles I could certainly make an exception in this case!!!!

I echo other's thanks for posting such a great rifle

OahuKaneohe - That most excellent rifle is best quality with the later H&H bold foliate. engraving certainly made in the new H&H factory.
I believe there were various options available, especially on the "Royal" grade

I believe this is the later Bold foliate engraving

This is the earleir foliate engraving which I referred to

Rose and scroll

Take your pick for personal preference, all are excellent

If I remember correctly, Harry Manners was a well known Professional Hunter who wrote several books about his exploits. http://www.brooke-africa.com/BOOK%20REVIEWS/book-reviews-manners.html

I suspect Lord John may have been his father,

The 450 was made for Lord John Manners, 7th Duke of Rutland who was born, raised and died at
Belvoir Castle in 1906. The Castle is intact to this day. See the pics and read the history of the Castle and the Dukes of Rutland. Lord John Manners was the Head of the House of Lords in 1890s England. A Duchess of Rutland lives there today.

http://www.belvoircastle.com/

Belvoir Castle is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland. The family have lived at Belvoir in an unbroken line for almost a thousand years. Crowning a hill in Leicestershire, its turrets and towers rise over the Vale of Belvoir like an illustration in a romantic fairytale.

The land was a gift from William the Conqueror to one of his Norman barons – Robert de Todeni who fought for him as his Standard Bearer at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

I am just a custodian of this wood and metal piece of history...for now.

The Holland 500 BPE was made for:

Rajah V. Venkatakristna Yachendra Bahadur - 5th Brother of the Rajah of Venkatagiri K.C.I.E.

as inscribed on the barrels.

Thank you for sharing your .450 H&H. There is nothing like a H&H expressrifle from the golden era...Even though I have one to see yours still makes me soft at heart.
