Gentlemen,

as a question arised whether the Scheiring DR has a checkering or not:

My friend Fritz allowed me to inspect his Scheiring rifle once again and there was no checkering.

As the recoil of the two calibers does not require checkering for keeping a grip and the figures of the wood are better to see without, the wood surface of rifle was left smooth.

best regards
Rolf

Hello Mike,

you are right that the big lug on the top of the barrels protudes a bit, but during my handling the rifle ist was not so bad as being an obstacle for quick reloading!

Also the rifle was purchased for hunting Africans plains game where a quick reload is desirable but not essential (in comparism to having a discussion with buffalo at 10 yards...)
For this kind of hunting Fritz relies on a Johannsen 500 Jeffery (Magnum System, of course) or an Orth .416 Rigby, or on a beatiful stocked Heym .500 DB, so there is no desperate need for a .375 H&H DR to be used...

Rolf
