Any comments good or bad on the Mannlicher SBS-system (safe bolt system) safety? How does it stand up to dust - safari, and moisture (f.ex mountain conditions)?

Geez, you had me going there, Robie! A Mannlicher SxS, I had to have one!

Sadly, I know nothing of the safe bolt system.... Sorry!

I am and always have been a manlicher fan and possess three quality rifles.I like everything about the weapon except the safety system, frankly it sucks.I have missed good opportunities to get my prey because of the SBS,the damn thing would get stuck and by the time i would go off safety it was too late.Other than that the rifle is outstanding.

I saw a rifle at Scheels in Appleton. Being a Steyr I presume it shoots very accurately. Wish they went back to the old Mannlicher Schonauer though!
Good hunting!

I have got a SBS 96 Pro Hunter in 8x68S. It shoots very accuratly an the bolt action is pretty smooth and easy to handle. There are better 3 position safeties but it is ok. Better then a good 2 position safety. And one point that is important to me: The action is well prepared for overloaded ammunition( too high pressure)!
