Lapua,

I have been looking at the Hatari for a while, I am not a fan of take downs as most are a after thought to a standard rifle but the 202 is engineered to be a TD , is there any good or bad with this rifle? also holding its zero? and with the recoil of the bigger calibres 375,458Lott do you think the 202 will hold up over time? and pricing what are they selling for? Thanks

308 the Hatari is a very solid rifle and very well engineered, there is nothing lose about the rifle and all parts fit very tightly it's not a light gun to carry mate around 9.5 pounds but you need that weight for firing hunting rounds. I have taken the S&B scope on/off and it always comes back to zero using eaw mounts. The only thing you need to do is wait it took me 8 months to get it in .375 H&H because there is a high demand for that .cal

all in all it is a solid rifle and the pricing please call
Hermann the German.

Lapua,
I tried to ring Herrman's but he is at the Nationals ,I then rang Clayton Firearms the other Sauer dealer and was quoted about $7000 ! so I hope Herrmans is a bit cheaper!

Lapua,
How quick is it to change barrels?are the sights regulated ok? Claytons has a right hand Hatari so I might come down and have a look, I'll contact Hermanns on monday and see what price he can do.

the rifle comes with a test target they use norma factory
300grn for their test fire 3 @ 30 yrds and 3 @ 50 yrds.

The barrel is tight to come out you use the bolt by holding the gun up right and allow the bolt to drop by lift and drop action a few times with your right hand while holding the barrel with the other. hermann I think will not have one on hand there was only 3 sold in australia ,so if the other shop has one I would get it asap or wait 7 months if you place an order .

Lapua,

I got down to Clayton Firearms and had a look at the 202 Hatari they have one in 416Rem . The rifle is easy to take down, very smooth bolt, great express sights, nice wood but the safety to take off is inside the trigger guard under the action not sure on how this would go in the field ,Lapua have you any good or bad on the safety? Thanks

There has been a few right ups in the American hunting magazines about these rifles. Cameron Hopkins hunted in Cameroon (yes really) with his 202 TD in 375 and it was so dusty there the rifle got kind of stuck together and he couldnt' get it taken back apart for the trip home. Had to buy some kind of other case to get the rifle back.

I have had m700s get kind of sticky like that and a lot of other push feed rifles. I love push feed don't get me wrong, but that dust issue is kind of a pain in the ass.

I want one but not sure if I want the Hatari or the regular rifle. Sauer keeps changing the stocks, so I would have to handle the rifle before I bought it. I don't like some of the shapes of their stocks.

Very nice rifle.

And Craig Boddington said that it was the most accurate 375 he had ever shot. Ad to that the fact it was a takedown!

Do you know what magazines? as for stocks you can special order a variety of stocks but I like the Hatari style. Jamming up due to dust would put you off the rifle! Has any one else heard of this,Thanks

I am currently using a Sauer 202 375HH (but not a TD) on a regular basis every year for 4 years in Africa : Burkina Faso wthere the Sandwind Harmatan is almost constant and in the Central Rep of Africa that is similar to Cameroon. Never jammed.......but I used to clean my rifle every day.
I have another barrel, 300 WM, but never brought it in Africa.

Oh,.....the first year...... I got jammed with the screw fixing the fore getting loose, a current issue if one doesn't think to use loctite to fasten the screw.

This Hatari is a beaut.......especially the chestnut wood.
congratulations
