The .22 centerfire family has many distant cousins you may not know about.

But he hasn't mentioned one of the earliest - the .22 Savage High Power. A true classic, and accurate!

Maybe because .22 Savage has different bullet diameter, not .224.

I am guilty of not knowing this as well.

I have a 220 Swift and its a handy unit around the farm.

I have an friend here that has shot over a dozen elk using a 220 Swift..shoots them in the head..while I think that is a bit over the top...it is a heck of a round for p-dogs, coyotes and antelope...works great, incredibly fast and accurate...

Have one in a Cooper --excellent shooter...

Of course the .297/230 has a bore diameter of .227 or .228, just like the .22 savage High Power... I reload for my Francotte with 1.6 grains of powder and a new Eley Tenex bullet that 'escaped' from the back door in Birmingham many years ago. The lead is so soft it upsets nicely. It is a real fiddle, though.

I am using a 35 grain .22 LR bullet. The groove in this Francotte cadet is .222
