Webley WG .455/476 Revolver
      #69552 - 16/01/07 07:24 AM

Probably comes under the 'other types' category but I couldn't resist sharing my best Webley with you. Bought it last year at Holts auction and it is truly stunning (nickel plated, ivory grips etc). Barrel is inscribed 'PRESENTED TO E CLIVE COATES BY THE STAFF AT 99 GRESHAM STREET, MAY 21ST 1900' Two days later Eric Clive Coates was Gazetted into the XVth Hussars. Don't worry, I have some nice rifles as well & will post pics of them soon.

Regards - Webley-boy

Quite an exquisite specimen, definitely a collector's item. Good catch.

I've always wanted a Webley for some reason. A shooter, one I could plink with. I have other handguns for serious work, but I would like to have a Webley in nice condition to run through its paces.

Thanks for the pictures, that is one to be proud to own. Congratulations.

Great stuff. When I saw your alias I suspected we might be treated to a few Webleys! What an opener, how are you going to follow that up!

I've always wanted a nice example of the big WG, but have had to console myself with a couple of Mk.VIs and a Mk.II in .455. They are such fun to shoot.

Thanks for your comments. I also have a .455 MK VI and a (Webley) Model 1911 in .22 (along with a few other pistols) which I keep in the armoury at Bisley and shoot them once a month. Yes, believe it or not, we can still shoot 'Heritage'(pre 1919) pistols here in UK but under Draconian measures.

Will post pics of some nice Rook & Rabbit rifles in my collection soon (including a Lancaster oval bore and a Holland & Holland).

Webleyboy,

For a time I played around with a plain Webley Mark III that had been issued to one of my uncles by the Forest Department in India in .38 with the 2" barrel and it was a very nice little gun. Yours, of course, is exquisite! And, knowing it's history makes it phenomenally more valuable.

Welcome to the Nitroexpress forums and do post pictures of your other guns when you find time.

Good hunting!

Webley Boy, thats a coincidence, I worked in an office at 99 Gresham Street in 1990 !! nice revolver you have, how do the laws work on that type of revolver. I bought a pair of Charles Lancaster duellers last year but as these are black powder they are exempt. I will put up a picture when I get a moment, they are mint, best, Mike
