Very interesting rifle. And a handsome one at that. It's always interesting to sneek a peek behind the Iron Curtain to see what was available to the privileged class.
Thanks for posting.

Kapu,
Is this the same round as fired in the Medved rifle?
Very nice picture. Brought back memories of my time in Moscow, still one of my favourite places on earth.
Thanks for posting and good hunting!

Yes, it is shooting the same rounds as Medved rifle.
One thing to be noted about the Russian guns if fed by self loaded ammos or others like Sako 9.3x53R. On the Russian version 9x53R the used bullets were considerably shorter than usually used in 9.3mm's and thus also the rifling in Russian made 9.3mm rifles starts much earlier. Adviced to be checked that the used rounds are not having the bullets leaning on to the rifling once loaded in to the chamber.

I have an ancient Sako catalog which gives one load for Fin 9,3x53R and i think that russian 9x53r is quite similar. 9.3x53R bullet 102D gamehead 16,6g/256gr, Powder Vihtavuori N140 3,30g/50,9gr, V0 710m/s. vanhassa sakon esitteessä on ilmotettu 9.3x53R luoti 102D gamehead rn 16.6gr/256gn N 140 ruutia 3.30gr/50.9gn lähtönopeus 710m/s
