What did that little rifle start it's life as?

I believe it started out in life as a Belguim made 410 shotgun.
Interestingly the maker said it shoots extremely well at 50 yards.

Looks like it started out as a centerfire .410

I have a cape gun very similar to it that started life as a .22LR on one side and a 9mmRimfire Shotshell on the other, another one that's 9mmRimfire Shotshell and a larger rimfire rifle round. both of them very similar in appearance to that little gun's action.

Cute little critters they are, the .22 that I have is silent with CB Long ammunition from CCI and amazingly accurate.
I've took about twenty squirrels with it last year.
The 9mm shotshell is great for very close range against squirrels and pest birds, and will absolutely tackle mice and rats.

Perhaps I'll have to get photos of them up here some time.

Alan

You have given me a REAL problem. I have, or my father has, the exact same little .410 shotgun. It was one of two firearms I started shooting with when I was around 10 or 11. I like it as a shotgun too which makes it a problem.

A .22 rimfire project perhaps if I went to a conversion. I wonder if it could be made into a .22 Hornet?

Ours is pretty loose, it has had a tough life, and would need some tightening up.

Very interesting!

NitroX-

If it's in good enough shape to shoot the fourten it'll do the hornet too without any trouble - these little guns are fairly tough and the hornet doesn't have much 'cane' to offer the rifle.

Al-

I'll sift through some of my photos tonight and get something up here for you.

What's shown up there is a folding 'poacher's gun'
Mine differ slightly in that for one, they don't fold all the way over, and also the snap action levers on my guns are in the traditional position forward of the triggerguard.

Alan

Was this little double made in Melbourne for the makers daughter?

Cheers

This particular rifle was made by a very reputable stock maker and gunsmith here in Western Australia.
He tells me he is going to make a walnut stock for it as well.
