For those interested this is the famous Rigby Sidelock incorporating
the Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite action. The "loop" of metal on the
end of the barrels is a dead give away for a Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite action.

I will try to get a photo sometime of the actual Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite
and have it posted.

Not long after this, Rigby started to use Webley actions for the
sidelock guns they made as well as the Boxlocks.

500 Nitro,

That would be great. I've heard of this action many times but I've never seen one in person or in detailed pictures.

As usual with the other guns of your collection posted. Fantastic.

Bill

Thanks for yet another beautiful rifle to 500Nitro and CaptCurl.

That would be great. If we can illustrate various aspects, standard or unique overtime it would be a great resource for members to study.

Thanks again.

is this in its original chambering, or a re-chamber, re-bore? Neat little gun.

Sinner

Rebore by Rigbys

They did most of them to 9.3 x 74R but the person
I purchased it from said it was only 1 or 2 that he
(Paul Roberts) had done to 375 Fl Mag.

He also liked the gun so bought it.

Guns was re proffed when done and shoots like a dream.

Also handles like a dream as well !

Hope that answers your questions.

500

Prior to the re-bore do you know what the orioginal chambering was, I am guessing as possibly 350 Flanged ?

Whatever it was, it is a superb example of a rising bite rifle in wonderful condition. Congratulations on such great taste.

Jonathan

Yes, it was one of the 350's - it is a 1904 / 1905 rifle
so that will probably date it.

I can't access the rifle to look as it is in Storage and
I can't even get to the case / notes of mine ATM.

Thanks for the compliments - the person who owned it
wanted someone who would appreciate it so I will look
after it before I pass it onto someone else.

I want to add another one to it so I have 2 of them
so hopefully that plan will come off. I've never owned
a 350 of any sort so need to tick that box !

Thank you for answering my inquiry, a truly fine rifle none the less. Good hunting!
