Twist rate

Gentlemen, could anybody please tell me the original twist rate used with the 400/350 Rigby and the 350 Rigby Magnum. Thanks in advance.

Matt.

Matt, somewhere in my foggy memory 1 in 16 for the 350Rigby magnum comes to mind. Though I am skeptical as this calibre used 300 grain projectiles and I would think 1 in 14 would be required to stabilize this weight.

1 in 14" (about minimum, I think) would make more sense than 16", yes.

I will measure my 400-350 Rigby Farquharson and report back soon. I'm interested myself as it was made to shoot the 310 gr bullet.

Thanks for the input Gentlemen. I agree, about 1:14 would be my guess as it is similar to the 9.3x62 with a similar bullet weight. Could be 1:12 like the 375 H&H but as the Rigby was earlier when they tended to use a slower twist rate I recon 1:14 is more likely.

Underlever, thanks for going to the trouble, I am looking forward to your answer. By the way, your rifle sounds like a beauty.

With cleaning rod and tight patch I did measure. The result was 1 turn in 13 inches +/-.

Which is the easiest way of putting up a few pics? I did use photobucket but haven't worried about such things for quite a while and I'm much more comfortable with chisels than keyboards.

Thanks for doing that for me. Well our guesses weren't that far out, sounds about right anyway.

There are several threads about posting photos in the main index.

G'Day Fella's,

Waidmannsheil, I have just looked thru my referrence material, unfortunately without success.

I would go with that the other blokes have suggested.
