That's a nice U/O double. Thanks for sending the photo.
How does it shoot?

NitroX The target shown in the photo is typical of how this particular rifle shoots. It shows one shot from each barrel at a distance of 50 yards and measures 3/4" centre to centre. I have on occasion shot one from each barrel at the same distance and ended up with the two holes cutting each other. Groups around one to one and a half inches at 50 yards would be a conservative average. These Winchester doubles were not regulated at all by the factory but instead the barrels were assembled to a predetermined tollerance. Unfortunatley this is a proceedure that cannot work as doubles need precise, individual barrel regulation if they are to shoot well. Most of these rifles in the smaller calibres shot their barrels well apart or well crossed and also crooked as they came from the factory and could not be totally cured by load development/ alterations. The fix is to properly regulate the barrels and this task has been performed on the rifle offered for sale here. It now shoots as well as any double could be expected to.
These rifles have many good points. They are very well made and finished, have very high quality steel in all parts, and are nicely engraved. They are very smooth in their breaking and closing action and have strong primary extraction and ejection. The quarter rib and front sight ramp are hard soldered to the top barrel.(Silver soldered or brazed) The EAW scope mount system correctly returns to zero and is of very high quality. For a factory produced double they are a good bit of gear.( once the regulation is fixed ) I've shot many, many pigs with this rifle in all sorts of terrain and over a variety of distances.
Damnit, I've almost convinced myself to hang onto it now!
