Is Boddington auditioning to replace Captain Obvious on the TV commercials? Not sure what he has to add at this point other than to keep his name out there and try and stay relevant. [/quote)

Perhaps..but what he has accomplished as a hunter can not be denied...Think he has been to Africa way over 100 times..let alone the far away areas as Pakistan, Iran, etc...he has done it all...hell he's even been to Australia and New Zealand.. ..but do agree--not exactly the latest news regarding the 6.5...

Another article on a 6.5---the 6.5/284..used a Cooper in this caliber last fall for a pronghorn..while they are not difficult to drop, impressive ballistics as he was out there a bit..

Americans' like stuff that they developed. Not invented here is why many 6.5's have been neglected by the American shooter and firearms and ammunition companies. I am not knocking this. There are far too many cartridges that do the same thing. The 7 mm's and the .30's could lose 2\3's of their numbers and really no one would miss them. The .338's and the 6.5's are now in the same boat.

I made up a .260 for my daughter, which had a Jeff Lawrence Barrel on it. Jeff had chambered the barrel the barrel a bit over 1/10" to long. So- I initially had it threaded as received, with the long .260 Rem. chamber. Thus, I simply necked 7x57 down to .260 for a crush fit and fire formed them.

The case had the front end of a .2560Rem, with 20 degree shoulder, but the length of the 7x57, thus, was sort of an improved .6.5 Mauser due to the .454" shoulder diameter, but with the Rem. sloping shoulder.

Case capacity was 60gr., same as the .6.4x284. With Re#19, it's 26" bl. drove 120gr. XLC's at 3,308fps.

As far as I can determine by filling up the cases even with the top of the neck and using the weight method, both the 6.5 Creedmore and M-S cases hold close to 51 grain water.

This is nice because there is a lot of new reloading data on the Creedmore using modern components. Just remember that the Creedmore is designed around a working pressure of 62kpsi and the M-S 52kpsi. Most of the Creedmore starting loads are in the 48kpsi range, so a good place to start is a grain or two under starting and to stop about a grain over it. I found out my 6.5 M-S loves Varget, 4350 and RX17 with the 140 grainers.

I should note here, she didn't like it, so I shortened the barrel for a factory .260 Rem chamber using 34gr. H4895 with 160gr. Sierra's for 'about' 2,250 to 2,300fps.

She loves that load and put 10 shots into 2" at 100 meters, elbow rested sitting at a bench only, no bags nor Bench Rest.

The scope was taped at 4X. The target was a full sized, but black silhouette of a deer with no marks, no aiming point. She asked me where to aim, I said kill the deer. She would have.

8 of the 10 shots were under 1 1/4" closer to 1 1/8".

I wasn't going to mention it, but the best I did with that load for 5 shots, was 1 1/8", double bagged.

She did that with 8 shots, elbow rested on a concrete bench.
