While I call bs to the claim it will keep up to the Lapua..this could/will still be a very useful round for elk sized game or bigger..along with an awesome round for African plains game up to the big nasty stuff...and even them if its legal...

One of the reasons I call bs to the comparison is Nosler has a habit of comparing their cartridges out of a 26" barrel and the competition with a 24" barrel..saw it in their latest manual comparing the 28N vs the 7RUM as well as the 30N vs the 300RUM..

Really wonder if the next one will be .375??? Hoping there is a 416 out there somehere..

Also a brief article on it in Dec issue of GUNS AND AMMO..

Yea they are being a bit generous with there claims. The lapua will push a 300gr scanar bullet using N570 powder faster than that. Around 2750fpson my chronograph and it ain't maxed out pressure wise. Powder company's are just like auto company. My engine has more HP than the other guys.

It doesn't really matter as there will always be sales and we all like 'new'.

Good looking round, like a scaled up .284 Winchester.

The new 338 Norma mag based on a shortened 416 case would come closer to matching the 338Lapau but not one based on the 404 case. After all the Lap is based on the 416 Rigby case. Wouldn't mind an 8mm, 358 and 416 based on the Norma case.

Yet another .338 cartridge in an already crowded field. I love the .340 Weatherby and the Lapua is spectacular. I suppose it's like women. You can never have too many girlfriends.

One advantage might be, such rifles and chamberings might fly below the radar of our Ozzie gun banners who do not like the .338 Lapua Magnum. Allegedly it can shoot holes through old fridges at unheard of distances to panty wearing police so is a big worry to them ... (wonder if that comment will get me another visit. )

Its amazing..I used that exact line while I was picking up a new weapon yesterday.. Had a friend walk by as I was filling out the paperwork..he states "another gun?"...and I responded in like fashion as above...like girlfriends, can never have to many...unless more than one tries to surprise you on the same evening..THAT can be a problem...

As to having to many, I believe the marketplace will sort all of that out...in 5 or 10 years from now 1 or 3 might no longer be around but for now, enjoy and go shooting...

I guess I'll have to live with being outclassed by their target load, I just don't see how my 338LM throwing the 300gr Berger at 2880fps can compete.
