The weight is unrealistic for most use I would venture to say, except for range use where no distance to carry is needed.

I'd like one in .243 - fast twist # 26" bl. My .45 Sharps weighs 12 pounds 8oz., but then I don't hunt much with it - however it is wearing the open sights now, instead of the apertures, just in case I want to take it out.

Agree--.243 would be an awesome caliber for this... Small enough for p-dogs --big enough for other game..antelope, deer, etc...and very efficient

My thoughts - although I prefer the 57mm case for a 6.5. For me, either the 6mm Rem or the 6.5x57IMP would be my choice. The one 6.5x57IMP I did have, produced 3,308fps with a 120gr. XLC from a 26" bl.

How does the weight of one of these compare to say a .308 AR15?
Haven't seen the video yet, only the first few seconds, my connection is crap today.

The .308 AR15 normally called the AR-10 if in the .308 caliber are typically a bit lighter..depending on the manufacturer..the ones I see are in the 8 1/2 to 9 lb range--this is showing it to be 10 1/2 lbs..

I got to look one of these over back when they were released at a local shop, it was in .243. They are interesting, I didn't care much for the stock though. There are a couple of threads over on the Hide about it, the first one:

And the new one after the one above hit its length limit:

Agree--would be fun to use just sitting on a prairie dog hunt though ..or for calling in coyotes...

It's in the right weight range for Precision Rifle competition. On the plus side, it's easy to change out the barrel, it's got a hybrid AR/Savage barrel nut system so you can go to a lighter and/or shorter contour.

As far as "modern" guns go - I do indeed like this one.

It will be interesting to see what the cost trades end up being for tricking one of these out versus a building off of a typical action and chassis (i.e. using it as a donor action). I do like the idea behind the magazine well design if it lives up to the promise of handling the variety listed (M14/AR10/AI).

G'Day Fella's,
As has been stated above, the Ruger is a bit heavy!
Personally, I prefer a chassis stock a young mate of mine has designed and now manufactures! https://www.facebook.com/GC-Precision-Developments-Ltd-458875430916447/timeline/ These are an all Aussie design which is made here in Australia! FYI, as a Mechanical Fitter-Machinist myself, I can honestly say, that these stocks are made with Stunning Precision and Best Quality Finishes, when compared to Every Other Chassis Stock, I have seen and or handled! I shit you not!!!
