New Model 70 style actions alone with DSBs
      #240951 - 21/01/14 10:07 AM

Again, I know nothing about the selelrs other than that they displayed them at the Dallas Safari Club convention and that they plan to offer them in six sizes. The action manufacturer is, apparently, a unit owned by an old custom gunmaker in Vermont.

If anyone has more information, please do post. I, for one, think that it is good to have more Model 70 clones just as there are Remington 700 clones, though these do seem to be quite pricey if they look really nice in the pictures.

That's interesting, I agree that more M70 style actions would be nice. The only drawback is the lack of peripheral parts in comparison to the M700. I ran across this new action which might have more possibilities because it provides the Mauser style bolt in a M700 footprint:

Put a 3-position safety on it and open the ejection port as they plan to do and this thing could really take off. It's a local company but I have no connection with them.

Thanks, SharpsNitro.

Looks nice, but I hope they will consider offering it without the rail and with a more traditional bolt knob. My other concern is that it would be somewhat more difficult to load than a more "open" action like a Mauser or Springfield, though this must be more rigid for long range work, I guess. In any case, I am happy that more and more gunmakers are coming out with CRF actions, and not just producing Remington 700 clones . . .

Good hunting!

The company is local so I may give them a call, if there is enough of a market they might offer a hunting version. They also have an interesting switch barrel rifle called the M2 that they are working on for the long range/tactical crowd. So far, they have not posted eighteen rifle projects on their website.
