Isn't that what they call the "Opti-Wood"? A plastic film like the dipped cammo stuff? Looks good.

I was handling one of these at Cabela's in town the other day. It handled really nicely, looked pretty well put together too.
How does this one shoot?

This is from 50 paces , offhand , open sights . The rifle doesnt cross with any of the ammo I've tried so far , the crosses are me trying to learn to shoot offhand and bigger bullets than I'm used to . The first few times I shot , I just coundn't help gettin kinda excited .

Yes it is "opto-wood " , yes it does look good and I get many compliments on it from the bolt-trash crowd I hang with , no that was not my first choice for wood but my choice of which rifle was decided by inspection of the muzzles on available rifles . It is I think rather plain walnut with some kind of treatment , lazered maybe . I don't think it is dipped , I have some camo guns that I think were dipped and it is quite different. I have the piece I cut off the stock to customize my lop and I plan to do test on it . One plus about the opto wood is that when I took a spill in the mountains and gouged the grip cap it wasnt as painful as would have been with $$$$$ walnut .

Is rifling just Made of copper?? So after 50shots its all worn down? I am thinking of Get a sabatti in 9.3x74, i live in Norway, so i don't have luxury of looking at one in a store, cuz they only order them in. I love The Stock and apperence of The gun, cuz merkel and chapuis all have semi beavertail or bavarian style "hogback" and The sabatti has classic english straight Stock,
But what worries me is The barrels. Whats your experience with The gun?

Andreas - the rifling isn't worn down. It has some guilding metal or copper (and powder) fouling is all. It is in need of a proper cleaning.
Appears to not have the very deep rifling of most 'older' European rifles, but more in line with the .004" to .005" standard of the North American and other modern Arms makers.

Yes still pleased . It has extractors not ejectors . About 120 shots fired , no problems so far . It has been much fun learning to shoot this rifle and I am still learning .You can see the results of first handload for her here: http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=201477&an=0&page=0#Post201477
