Holland 12 bore Paradox
      #175023 - 07/02/11 06:57 AM

I just got my Paradox back from being restocked and I thought you might enjoy some pictures.

This Paradox was finished in October of 1913 for a General Kotschoubey.

It's a Royal model with simple border engraving and has 28" barrels, double triggers, half hand stock, treble grip, hinged front trigger and detachable locks. It's a 30 cordite gun and regulated with a 750 gr. bullet. It shoots very well with the NEI 12 bore Paradox mold and Unique.

I had John Millar make up a full set of tools and he did a marvelous job.

I've asked Capt Curl to help me with the photos.

Photos added. Beautiful gun! Can you give details of who re-stocked it, etc.?

Really nice stuff, work turned out great. Are you planning on placing the case colour hardening and some nitre blue accents back on the metal?

Superb piece.

Nice gun!

John Millar made the brass mould, sizer, crimp tool, and the wood-handled hollowpoint pin?

What was the price?

Cheers

Thanks for all the kind words, I plan on leaving it as is and shooting some pigs with it. It's been a great learning experience casting the bullets and loading the ammo.

John did all the tools for around 2k if I remember right. He was great to work with.

Well Done 470Evans!

Have you checked regulation? Did you change dimensions at all?

my Evans B&S is, hopefully, on the bench right now, getting a new stock.

Dear 470Evans,
Magnificiant H&H Paradox. I greatly cheer bringing back fine guns with history to their own shooting world.
As a new member but long time double rifle hunter, I would love to have some historically correct tools made along the line of your Paradox.
Would you have a good recommendation or address for such a dedicated specialist ?
Many thanks for the nice pictures and good shooting
Best regards
Rodd

Quite a famous family in Russia. Also spelled Kotchubey or Kotschubei. IIRC there was a General Kotchubey who was a prominent leader in the White Russian exile community after WWI. The spelling you have there is the French style. As French was the lingua franca of the Russian aristocracy that's not suprising.

Rodd,

Call Jon Millar 250-442-5616. He is in British Columbia and made all my tools. He also has a entire selection of other vintage tools he makes as well. Very nice guy who makes quality tools.
