Interesting. Don't see many around like that.

My WR Super Magnum Explora which was rebarrelled by WR to a shotgun has a scalloped action and really ornate engraving,
very different to this one.

Is that a pin going through the middle of them?

Through the middle of the circular engraving, yes, I think it is from memory.

Bailey

Nice rifle. I think I like leaving those panels checkered though.

I like the look of the gun but the cc is so strong I can't make out the engraving.

That's indicative of WR. Seen it on quite a few guns.

Maybe hitting it with a little steel wool will bring the engraving out.

I was thinking of better contrast lighting but...

Doesn't help that much.

The colours are so deep / dark that it does hinder seeing the engraving. I have a drop lock here that is the same - lovely colours but it doesn't highlight the beautiful engraving.

500Nitro,

I am reffering to the second WR droplock posted, but no pic of the action flats showing the hingepin. I guess I need to head to Dallas to handle a few. Need to see how the hingepin is installed.

I have a 400/360 drop lock here (one of the few that is handy).

I can take a couple of photos of it if you like and email them to you.

pm me an email address and exactly what you want a photo of and from which direction - top down, bottom up etc.

Bailey: The hinge pin appears to be part of the action forging.

General War is correct. The crosspin is fixed and machined as part of the action.Although very strong it makes jointing on new barrels difficult, being a juggling act between the pin and the extension.New Westley Richards guns and rifles are still made this way.

Great, Thanks for the pictures. Tells me a lot....not all of it I wanted to know. Tricky machining, but doable.

Wery nice rifle there, i love the droplocks, seems like a lot of work fitting the lock slide on those actions,
