I shoot a 300 Win. Mag. rather than the fine old 300 H&H, but I load my rifle to what are fundamentally 300 H&H velocities, or around 3050 fps. or so.

For the most part I've always used premium 180 gr. bullets in lieu of 200 gr. bullets, and I've never found them lacking in any way for elk, moose, bears, all sizes of African plainsgame (including eland), as well as (in a pinch) lion, leopard, and Cape buffalo. In every case, premium 180s have done the job in exemplary style, and I'm not exactly sure what aspect of performance would have improved by going with 200s instead............

Have anybody out there used a more heavy bullet than 220gr in the .300 H&H rifles?
I am interested in the .230 gr Burger bullet AND anything beyond 230 grs in the .300 H&H!

No, but since I'll be picking up my new 300H&H in a week or so, I'll be setting up for 200 Gr loads with 240 Grain Woodleighs for options. I know the 240 is designed as a 30-06 bullet, but it'll be the same after 100 metres or so.
