I have just found a very unusual shotgun made by Alejandro Sartor in 1969. Sartro have made some 30-40 guns here at Bahía Blanca. Until I found this all were double O/U. I belive it is very rare because of the bolting sytem, the same used on his doubles.

Hope you find them interesting. Martin

Thanks I think this is a gun that was sold to a friendo fo the maker before it was finished. My impression is that would be side clips. I will post some pictures of two O/U he made. Incredible guns IMHO. Martin

Side clips would've been placed at the sides of thethe action face and extended over recesses cut into the sides of the barrel to prevent lateral movement of the barrel during firing. This function is unique to a side by side since there would be no lateral movement on a single barrel. They're definitely not side clips and appear to be an aftermarket modification, but it's a modification I see no purpose for other than a possible repair.

Der Jager, You are right no sideclips. THe owner told that this was made by the maker himself but this can be wrong. I think that if the maker do it, he decide to ad some engravig later as he used to do with later guns. This is suposed to be his first gun, at least here in Bahia Blanca, as it is numberes "01". IIRC he made 34 shotguns as O/U and this is the only one I know as a single shot. I will post some pictures of two more guns made by Sartor. I have do some research as I would like to write an article about his guns for the Doble Gun Journal. Unfortunatelly he pass away a couple of year ago, so I have to get indirect information. Thanks Martin
