I love the way it is balanced and it points like a shotgun. Triggers could use a little work. It is accurate with 150 gr. factory loads. I have yet to draw blood with it. Yes I would buy another and will buy the 45-70 when EAA gets some in.

I got one of the last 45-70 SXS but my local toy store still has a 30-06 if anyone were still looking for one...

USSG inc is importing them they are just another name for EAA. The email is USSG@EAACORP.COM. My local shop can get me the 45/70's for 785 plus sales tax, same gun different importer.

When I called EAA about a month ago, they gave me three distributers that supposedly had some of the EAA 45-70s. My FFL had no luck with any of the distributers. The price you stated is in line what with EAA quoted at the Shot Show. I think they are having just as much trouble bringing them in as they did when dealing with Remington.

When I got mine, I had my dealer looking, & his main distributor told him he had originally gotten one or two, but was now out of them, but they were in the middle of year end inventory... they ended up calling back the next day saying they had found one that was mislabeled in the box... so mine my have been the last one purchased out of the last group that came in ???

You were very lucky. How is the wood? It seems like the Baikals from EAA have really nice walnut, while the Remingtons had various types of hardwood. Please post some pics!

that's strange my shop looked it up for me 2wks ago and their distributor said they had multiple in stock. Maybe they just go really fast, low cost double, adjustable regulation, made in popular North American cartridges. What's not too like. just don't expect a $5,000+ rifle for $800

Mine actually has very nice wood... it does have one peculiarity though... the muzzle end ( barrel crowns & the muzzle end of the spacer block between the barrels ) was not blued ( er well blackened ) ??? almost like it was machine surfaced after the metal was finished... the 30-06 that my local dealer has also has nice wood, & doesn't have a "white" muzzle ???
BTW... I got mine in early January of this year... it wasn't a planned purchase... so its still on layaway... but I borrowed it for my builder to inspect, & for me to get these pics
let's see if I can post some pics...

I see you have the Remington version. I thought you were talking about the EAA version that doesn't have the Remington name. Nice gun!
