Anybody use these and what sort of performance did you experience?

I have used the Taipan 300 grain SP in my .375. I have shot a few pigs with this bullet and they were dead before they hit the ground. All pigs had minimal meat damage with small exit wounds.
My brother has used the Taipan 150 grain HP in his 30/06. He has shot many goats and roos out to 300 yards. These bullets hit hard and left massive exit wounds.
In my opinion they are a good cheap bullet and have always performed well and accuratly.
If you are planning on hunting elk or moose with the .303 the Woodleigh 215 grain RN would be a better choice.

Thanks for the response.

I've been reading that the Taipan is softer than the Woodleigh. I want to load them for deer in my 7.65x53mm Argentine. I think they should work well for that. Think I'll order some.

Hobie - Taipan projectiles generally have very light jackets and soft non- bonded cores. They can perform quite spectaculaly on light-skinned game - particularly the giant grasshoppers that we have in Australia. Probably what they were designed for? I haven't used their 215 grainers in 303 British except for range shooting but their lighter hollow points (150 - 124 gn)seem to expand reliably, which is not always the case with HP's. For heavier game, I would suggest that Woodleigh 215 gn Round Nose would be a better bet in that weight. Alternatively, their new 174 gn Protected Point would be worth a look.

I've used them and never had a problem .
I have also used the woodleigh 215 rn with terrific results.
Woodleigh bullets recovered weighed about 90 to 95 % where as Taipan were from 75 to 85 % of original weight.
They are both good Aussie products and should be suported by all Aussie shooters !

I use Taipans in .224, .257, .264, .308 and .311. Mostly for target granted, but what has been used for hunting has worked flawlessly.
A lot of shooters I know in the CSR discipline won't touch them, supposedly due to quality. But another guy I know in the Hunting & Conservation group uses them in 224 and 308 for all feral shooting - no complaints from him.
I like the price, especially in 500/1000 round bulk packs. A good mate uses the 150gn 311's in his 303 for general hunting. Everything he's hit has gone down, roos (even bid reds) and pigs to around the 100kilo mark.
A cousin uses the 130HPs in his 308W on pigs and has dropped some big boars (120kilo +) out to 250Metres. No complaints from him.
I'll keep using them, unless I can get other brand pills for a better price

Hobie:
I too have been using the Taipan 215-grainers since they first appeared, mainly due to a weakness for the Long Tom, and vintage Lee Speed and Martini sporters with fast-twist barrels.

Yes, they are soft bullets with thin jackets, but this should make them ideal for the smaller deer. They are absolute bombs on all but the largest boars over here. Accuracy is faultless. I love them. Be sure to test them for stability in your barrel before ordering in bulk, but I'm guessing they will be OK.

...and as other posters have rightly pointed out: Woodleighs for the bigger stuff, though!
