After 3 years it has arrived. Robert de Vries did the metal work and Ross Waghorn the wood work. German single set trigger, hand made bases for the Talley rings on the 1.5x5 Leupold with intergral pop-up peep, folding leaf as well. Sights regulated by maker for 320 gn solids Woodleigh.Had to fly interstate twice for a fitting. If she shoots as good as she looks it was worth it. The photo's do no justice to the quality of the work Please ignore the date stamp-old camera and older photographer

Very nice indeed, my style of rifle. : The 9.3x66 sounds similar to my 9.5x68 - based on the 8x68 brass. I'm not familiar with the 9.3x66 ballistics, either, but would like to know. As well, case dimensions would be appreciated.

Wombat,
That is one magnificent rifle! Very tasteful design and absolutely gorgeous execution in both wood and metal!
The restrained engraving work and the remarkaable wood are perfection, indeed.
Good hunting! We'll all be looking forward to pictures of the trophies you take with her!

Very, very nice Wombat. What is that rear sight ? Does it incorporate a dovetail ? or are my ageing eyes failing me (again).

The 9.3x66 is like the 9.3x62 with about 150fps added. The peep-in-base for Talley rings is custom made for this rifle-very well done when seen up close.

Thanks Wombat - it's a big slower than I'd thought - excellent, but a bit slower.

Beautiful rifle. Congratulations. What type of walnut is it? Where did you source the wood from?

Beautiful shootin iron.
I like the pop-up peep, too.
Is the x66 case related to any other?

Some comparisons CIP dimensions are; 9.3X62; L1 = 51.79 mm (to shoulder) L2 = 54.22 mm (to en of the shoulder-neck) L3 = 62 mm (total lenght) R1 = 11.95 mm (Rim (head dia)) P1 = 12.10 mm (Base dia) P2 = 11.45 mm (shoulder dia) H1-H2 = 9.92 mm (neck dia) MAP = 3900 bar (56 550 PSI) Capacity = 4.96 cu.cm (76.35 grains H2O)
9.3X66 SAKO; L1 = 55.80 mm (to shoulder) L2 = 58.20 mm (to en of the shoulder-neck) L3 = 66 mm (total lenght) R1 = 11.95 mm (Rim (head dia)) P1 = 12.13 mm (Base dia) P2 = 11.43 mm (shoulder dia) H1-H2 = 9.92 mm (neck dia) MAP = 4150 bar (60 175 PSI) Capacity = 5.11 cu.cm (79 grains H2O) estimated

Interesting - I measured the water capacity of 2 fired 9.3x62 RWS cases. They held exactly 78gr. of H2O, which is exactly the same as my .375/06IMP. ; The 9.3x66 appears to be little more than a lengthened 9.3x62. The .01mm larger base diameter can pretty much be ignored.
