Winchester Mod 70 Safari Express 458 Lott
      #99640 - 19/03/08 01:36 PM

Well I got my second Big bore, Winchester Mod 70 Safari Express, bored out to 458 Lott, I really like the profile, and fit of the gun, I took it out today and ran some 458 Win 510gr Softpoints threw her (Don't have any Lott yet)Its VERY accurate with the iron sights. Its been Bedded with a metal epoxy, trigger job done, action trued, Leupold steel bases with the quick release rings. The previous owner only fired 5 round before sending it away to be converted to LOTT, and I purchased it after that.

Here it is, what do you think?

(Ignore my crude blanket backdrop)

The blanket should be blue. It is a boy after all. Nice gun.

Thanks. I'm having trouble finding projectiles in my area for reloading, I'll have to go the mail order route, so far all I've shot is 458 Win and I love the rifle! Can't decide if I'll take this one out this year or the 375 H&H, decisions decisions...

Well I found a local supplier for Hornady 458 Interlock 500gr bullets, and mail ordered some brass:

(Thats a Lott of brass )

I also bought a digital fish scale so I could weigh my guns, this one comes in at 9lbs 3 ounces empty, no scope (can't find a leupold with a german #4 reticle yet, but I'm working on it)I've only shot 510gr Winchester factory 458 Win loads so far out of it, and it wasn't bad at all, I'm wondering what kind of kick I can expect from the little longer case. I'm hoping to use H4895 Powder, because then I only need 2 different powders for all my reloading (rifle anyways) anyone have experience with this powder in a Lott?
