Finnish Lakka
      #98233 - 03/03/08 06:21 PM

Has anyone tried Lakka and what did you think of it? Seems to be hard to source outside of certain European countries.

Quote:

Lapponia Lakka

Lakka might very well be one of the most well known Finnish words outside of Finland. It means cloudberry, and Lapponia Lakka indeed a cloudberry liqueur produced by Marli.

Alcoholic strength: 21% vol (42 proof).

Lapponia Lakka is made with Finnish cloudberries that are macerated in har liquor between two and six months. After that the liqueur is sweetened and bottled in the characteristic bottle, of Finnish design.

The producer, Marli's, story begins on may 3, 1867, when the Finnish senate, by orde of th Russian Csar Alexander II, gave the company a license to produce liqueurs made of local produce. The company (then known as Nordfors) quickly became one of the largest producers of alcoholic beverages in Finland.

Between 1919 and 1932, Finland like many other countries, prohibited all sales of alcohol (in every kind). During this prohobition, Marli survived by selling juices and nectar.

In 1932, when the prohibition was lifted, and the Finnsih alcohol monopoly Alko was formed, Marli managed to get a production license, and resumed their liqueur production.

Other liqueurs by Marli is for example the Lapponia Blueberry.

Finnish??????????? read this haha,i know it should be elsewhere but have a laugh anyway.

A virile, middle-aged Italian gentleman named Guido was relaxing at his favorite bar in Rome when he managed to attract a spectacular young blonde woman.

Things progressed to the point where he led her back to his apartment and, after some small talk, they retired to his bedroom where he rattled her senseless.

After a pleasant interlude, he asked with a smile, "So, you finish?"

She paused for a second, frowned, and replied, "No."

Surprised, Guido reached for her and the rattling resumed. This time she thrashed about wildly and there were screams of passion.

The sex finally ended and, again, Guido smiled and asked, "You finish?"

Again, after a short pause, she returned his smile, cuddled closer to him and softly said, "No."

Stunned, but damned if he was going to leave this woman unsatisfied, Guido reached for the woman yet again. Using the last of his strength, he barely managed it, but they ended together screaming, bucking, clawing and ripping the bed sheets.

Exhausted, Guido fell onto his back, gasping. Barely able to turn his head, he looked into her eyes, smiled proudly and asked again, "You finish?"

Barely able to speak, the beautiful blonde whispered in his ear, "No, Norwegian."

GENTLEMEN,

Since the Finlanders can produce something to quench thy thirst which is over 40 proof they are welcome here any time!

Apologies offered, butI am surely suffering from cabin fever here in Vermont. We have had over 3 meters of non melting snow so far in my valley. I am soooooo tired of it! Someone please put some strong muti on this place to melt to spring.

I think even my dogs and chooks are suffering cabin fever!

We really can produce some drinks with better payload. Example Finlandia vodka or Koskenkorva vodka. If those alone dont fix your cabin fever you could try traditional style game.
Take a litre of Koskenkorva vodka. Then drink the vodka, put your dog outside of the house and quess who went outside....

Poor chilly dog.

When I last drank a lot of vodka (and lots of beer) in Scotland I spent many hours outside in close to zero temperatures and it didn't penetrate at all. Last time I have been seriously drunk - 1989.
