Westley does need to do something with there pictures.They need to be clearer and more of them.I'm not a big fan of Cabelas little pics eather.

The Raick and this rifle have the same top fastening system. So does the .475 Straight Rodda WR has for sale. My two boxlocks are both PHV-1's. Are these (described as Greener crossbolts) as reliable as Webley's? Are they less desirable when it comes to reselling? PHV 1 is a WEBLEY designation so it can't be a Greener Cross Bolt.

Suggest you remove the "re" in your web site link above.

I think most guys who have learned a bit prefer

WEBLEY A&WC actions, then WEBLEY PHV-1 actions,

over GREENER type cross bolt actions. [IMO]

I have two British doubles on the PHV-1's, a Webley & Scott, and a William Evans, and am assuming these were made in Birmingham, UK. Inasmuch as the Raick and Hollis look awfully similar, is it possible that all these type actions were Belgian made?

Walter is the father. Simon the son. I have no experience dealing with the latter.

I wouldn't say that Wally boy's reputation was affected by the actions of his hired help screwing up with the BATF. He has his own obnoxiousness from birth that he has worked hard to enhance.

I was wondering if someone was going to comment on my post.

At the time it happened it went down like a lead balloon.

FFS, you think WR would have done some background checks on the hired help BEFORE employing them ?

Only two, and at this time of night? In any event, nothing wrong with a 475, just not as common and no doubt more expensive to shoot if you are going to 'roll your own.' Not a whole lot of real world difference in performance anywhere in the 470, 475, 476, etc range of Nitro chamberings. BTW, took the newly-acquired WR in 32-40 out to the range yesterday. Lots of fun, virtually no recoil, the gun seems well regulated, and the ejectors tossed the cases in an nice neat group in approximately the same spot behind me. Forty rounds was a lot less jarring than six from a 470 class DR. Dave

Martinis are like a woman's breasts--one's not enough; three's two many, but two's just right! Congratulations on your 32-40. I had a Boswell 32-40 I brought in from Australia in 2002 from Fred Roberts. I had JJ. mount a Lyman Alaskan on it with Talley mounts he custom fit to the quarter rib. It was incredibly accurate. I sold it through Caswell last year. He had it for sale in January at Dallas Safari Club for 13K--2.5 times what I paid for it!! If you need some loads let me know. I had really good results with AA2015 and Speer 170 FN's.

Bwanakim,

You seem to be in the market for a rifle to hunt with. If I'm correct, take a look at the weights of the rifles. The 475 is 12lbs 4oz, the 470 10lbs 8oz. The 475 shoots a 480gr bullet, the 470 a 500. The 470 wieghs what it should, the 475 weighs too much in my opinion.

Anyone that's hunted Africa's biggest knows the lighter the gun the better on Safari. Recoil is a mute point, when under the gun so to speak. Hell, there's so much adrenaline running through my veins, I can barely feel my Rigby 577NE at 12lbs. 10ozs. My 470 Purdey is 10lbs 4ozs which many consider to light, but feels perfect to me.
