What does the metric number stamped on the bottom of the barrels on a European double rifle stand for? Major diameter-groove diameter or minor diameter bore?

as far as i know, in the germanic rifles the number is the bore aka lands aka minor diameter.

It's the bore or land size. Kind of like the British way of calling a 450 anything up to 470ish.
