Wesson to a Henry
      #96281 - 08/02/08 12:56 PM

Heres my Wesson being converted slowly to a "Henry", a few of the modifications so far are cut off of the radius in lower front of the action, reducing the size of the button release on the lever, drastic reshaping of the hammer and a radius added to the front receiver ring. A few more changes to come before its "Mine", maybe a stalking safety.

She's a beauty! I wish my Henry was that shiney! But it's been around a bit longer.

I have had it along side an origional Wesson. They're very similar until you look closely. It would be interesting to know who copied who. There had to be something..

The action is made by Steve Earle. It will end up with a 28" Krieger barrel in .450 3&1/4".

Gentlemens:

First of all, an introduction: "Hi, my name is Glenn and I am a single shot rifle junkie".

I chose to start with reply to this thread for two reasons. The first is to berate Mr. bouldersmith for not letting me know there was a forum discussing real single shot rifles. The other is to ask him if there has been any more progress on the action.

Best to all,

Glenn

I have really been slacking on the action, though I have just recently aquirred the raw spring stock to build my stalking safety out of. A bit a slow down related to me buying indexing equipment also. I did make some progress today with my super magnum explora, damn that thing kicks. Glenn, I was trying to keep a few single shot secrets to myself, but I guess you've found where I hide out. I know youve seen pictures of my Westly, I think pictures of my Holland in .30 super are on here too. Decide what caliber the Gibbs will be yet? Get your grubby mits on your "Frasier"?

Steve:

Well, the cat she is out of the bag now...

I will poke around and see if I can't find your Holland. No new news on the Fraser. It will happen eventually, but the sooner the better for all concerned. Plenty of time to waffle about the Gibbs. Right now I am leaning towards the .450/400. Man, it is a nice action...

Here are a couple of pictures of the latest Wesson. It is nearing completion. It should go off for engraving in the next week or two.

Glenn

It'd look alot better with a Knox Form rather than those ribs IMO. But the craftsmanship shows still.

I agree with Riflemanusmc you are a bad influence. I called Steve and have a action ordered, now to decide on Caliber 450/400 or 40/60 maynard are on my short list. Just wish it would fit a 8 Bore for a barrel I have saved. Look forward to the rest of your build.
