Here's one for those in the market:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=90903346

Sounds like it might be promising and not "Puglisi" priced.

Could have done a better job of the photos.

i second that. sounds nice, so why not show it off, but good price and bad pictures often go hand in hand.

To me, if someone can't show good to very good pictures
of everything to do witt the gun (both profile shoots and close ups), then I am generally suspicious.

And as you correctly point out, a low price and bad pictures
- hhmmmmmm ?

For all anyone knows, that photo could have been taken at a gun show, in a gunshop, anywhere.

i am as much an amateur with a camera as the next guy. so it baffels me, when people are showing pictures like that, he wants 13500$ for the gun you think he could spend a 100$ for a digital camera with a flash that might make a picture worth a damn.

all in all, a stay away gun in my book or directly to a gunsmith that knows dbl rifles to the core.

Peter

In fact, you shouldn't use a flash unless you have diffusers etc to bounce the light off.

The Best way to take photos of a gun is Outside on a
Bright or very Bright but CLOUDY day.

This gives you the light you need to capture the detail but not a direct source of lightt will shine / reflect off the metalwork.

Try it sometime in Direct Sunlight and then the same photo when the sun has gone behid a cloud.

I am sure that if someone is interested in the rifle then the seller would send more pictures if the prospective buyer asked for them. The seller also seems to have a good rating on Gunbroker with 47 A+ comments and no negative ones. Also, Dale Tate, the gunsmith who worked on restoring the gun, is a known name, and he is approachable if someone wants to find out more before buying.

The seller may just be a lousy photographer, and nothing else. There are some more Charles Lancaster guns on sale with other dealers at relatively (for double rifles) low prices though not as cheap as this one's Buy Now price is. I'm not sure the seller should be slammed just because he takes bad pictures...

If a seller is serious about selling a rifle then
I expect them to put in some effort.

I sell guns OS and send that many close up picks
of the whole gun, people like it.

Why can't someone else go to at least some effort,
after all, he'll have to do it anyway if someone is
interested - unless the buyer is a cock head.

Sorry, doesn't gell with me.

Perhaps his battery was low.

I emailed the seller asking for more pictures including a closeup of the barrel flats. He replied his computer was down due to storms in SoCal and he expected to have them up tomorrow.

As we should all know, you don't really know what you have until it is in your hands.

Yeah you really need to hold the thing in your hands, buying blind is very scary indeed.

The additional pictures are up, looks like it may be a nice gun.

If I wanted to take a run at another 400 it would be on it's way to JJ after I heard what Tate had to say.

I would bet a goodly sum that the stock isn't original.

Anybody know if it has oval bores?

It's an extractor gun though.

Could you please educate me on the pros & cons of an extractor versus an ejector in a DR of this type & its intended use. I have been drooling over this one for a while....
