Mauser 98 Takedown
      #94963 - 22/01/08 07:05 PM

I am a new member to the Forum and was wondering if anyone out there can please help me with information, blue prints or drawings on how Mauser ( or any other maker )achieved there takedown rifle. I have looked on this site and found a re finished Mauser ( an original takedown ) that had an interuped thread for the barrel to allow for the takedown but it was the actual "How to dimensions" that I am trying to find out. A gentleman in Victoria, Australia, Mr Jack Millar had made rifles using this principle but is now either sick or retired and no-one can give me any directions as to how to find him or if this information is available from another gunsmith.

2 main methods were used - I think only 2.

The one described above and the "Holland" method
where the whole barreled action comes out of the stock.

BTW, Jack is quite sick and retired a few years ago.

Thanks 500Nitro, Sorry that Jack is sick, I have seen some of his past work and it was great. Do you know if he sold out or just closed down ?? if he sold out then maybe the new owner would have access to the plans. My son is a CNC Programmer / Machinist and can draw all things up using Mastercam, hence, that is why I am after plans etc. If you here of anyone with this typef drawings can you please let me know. Thanks again.

Jack sold off all his gear and guns
but alot of that type of work is
in the hands and brain, regardless
of design.

You can't sell that type of skill.
