Nice job. Did the bugs bother you as much as they bothered the bear?

Yes, bugs were thick! I had a head net on, that kept them at bay.

I disabled them because there are so many anti hunters there and they post their comments with foul language. I only use youtube in order to post video on forums, not for the peanut gallery comments.
Once I get better at disecting video from some hunts I will post more. I would like to post my leopard hunt.

Beautiful animal, shame is not billed as the animal. What power is used for hunting bear arms?

Oscar,
I used archery gear for this particular bear but any .30 caliber on up is suitable for black bear. I will probably use a rifle if I head up to hunt in the spring this time.

Ann,
That's a great bear, any idea how old? Nice shot placement too. It would have been hard to wait that long for the right opportunity. I have to fight the eagerness to shoot. What broadhead do you use for bear?

Leg length and head would indicate about a 3, maybe 4 year old. Nice shot.

He was not an old bear, Daryl is probably right on. I saw larger older bear this past spring but was unable to connect.
I use Steelforce broadheads. I always get a pass through with them. Same for this bear and the arrow shattered the near front shoulder bone as it went through.
BTW- there was several minutes not shown on the video prior just waiting for an opportunity. It was too long for youtube. I think bears always give good shot opportunities if one is patient.

congratulations Ann
I can't understand how you can remain so cool. It's sort of cold blooded murdering I can't wait when an opportunity happens. I haven't been outsmarted a couple of times and now in any circumstances, I shoot ASAP. At your place I'd have shot him just when he hunched up and scratched. But your patience makes a really great video, one is waiting again and again the strike of the arrow. That's suspense. I note that there were quite a few moskitos. By the way, your frank opinion on Quebec people. Mine is biased, as though Quebecians speak French, I keep the English Canadians in high esteem, they were always friendly.

Jean Bernard,
I have not had bad dealings with the Quebecois. I think you would like them and they would enjoy speaking with a 'native' Frenchman. Many are part Native American and are in my opinion very humble. I am sure there are exceptions but there are no matter what people you deal with. I speak no French and in many towns I must pass through to get to the hunting area I rely on the generosity of the locals being patient with me when I purchase petrol and the hunting license.
For a bear or moose hunt, the folks I book with are highly regarded by me. In fact the outfitter, Mike (Michele), is part Native and his wife, Luba, is full blooded Russian but was born and raised in Canada. You would like Montreal as well.
Thanks Dan! How are you doing these days?
