Reproduction Webley Falling Block Action
      #9234 - 17/02/04 09:03 AM

We are considering building a Falling Block Single Shot Action based upon the 1887 Webley (similar to a Farquarson). To our knowledge there are only a handful of this model Webley left in existance, and we have access to one. Our plan would be to do computer models of the original action, and scale it up/down for specific cartridges. If you have a moment and would be interested in this please visit our website at www.rifleactions.com, and click on Customer Surveys and respond to Survey #3. Thank you in advance for your time.

Interesting proposal. I sent them an e-mail. What would a company have to price their SS rifle at to sell enough to make this viable? I'm thinking $2500-$3500?

I wonder why this particular Model Farquharsen. I believe the Webley's were trade patterns. I guess all the more reason for this model

I assume you meant the 1897? It isn't a Farquharson, and it wouldn't be my first choice.

Webley is rather ugly. I'd recommend the H&H 1897 action, by far the sleekest of the Brit SS. I think there is a version with a dropout set of action guts, like a BSA Martini, as well as a version with a folding peepsight built into the tang. Very elegant and very strong, had one in .303 for a while, all worn out, so I sold it, should have rebuilt the thing.
