EM Reilly DR
      #90875 - 07/12/07 11:55 PM

Well guys you've done it to me again. All those collective evil thoughts have permiated my brain and bludgeoned it into submission! I have just been in contact with Micks Guns in the UK and had a new (old) DBR put away for me. It is a .500 x 3 1/4" BPE by EM Reilly. It has Damascus barrels and is a Jones underlever with a doll's head extension. Mick is chasing up more info for me from the previous owner such as date of manufacture etc. I probably will not be able to take posession for a few months, but I will be pleased enough to have it for the cooler months of 08 for next Sambar season and maybe a trip North.

All the best and good shooting, Ian.

Watto,

Congratulations on a nice buy! Do post pictures whenever possible. She does sound like a real beauty!

Also, its good to know that Mick Shepherd is back in business after the false charges that the British police filed against him. I still hope he sues them for a ton of money.

Good hunting!

Top stuff. Well done.

I have had a few E M Reilly's including an absolute beauty of
a DR in 500 3 1/4" which is now with a friend of mine in the US.

Looks nice if it is the one on the web site.

Thanks for the kind remarks, yes it is the one on Mick's web site. As stated there it has been re-stocked which I guess lowers it's value as a antique, but for me as a user that has no negative impact, if anything it's a positive. Apart from a couple of external pits the damascus looks great.
It's hard to believe the treatment Mick received at the hands of the Metro Police. I believe he has made a stand for all of us involved in gun sports world wide, and for that we should show him a bit of support in return. He really stood his ground for what he believed and knew to be right.

For any that don't know Mick's web site it is micksguns.com There are some nice guns there to have a look at.

All the best and good shooting, Ian.

I think you've picked up a nice piece.

Don't worry about restocks, not a major issue
except to US brainwashed collectors who apply
Winchester / Colt collecting methodology
to English Firearms.

Tried to enter micksguns.com and each time I try it brings up the first page and causes an error that closes the internet to me. Is this unique to my connection or have others had the problem? What do I do to get around it? Just wanted to see what he was selling it looked interesting.

Ian,

The website works perfectly for me. Good to see it up and a big thumbs up to you for supporting Mick. Yes, what he went through is horrible and I cannot believe that anyone who lives in a "democracy" should go through this kind of treatment. I remember the BBC talking about "illegal pump action automatic guns" that were found at his home. They also lied about raids in New York (which were aimed at getting guns out of a breakaway IRA faction) being headed for Mick's shop.

When he recovers he should sue them, the Times and every rag that defamed him before conveniently reporting that he was innocent, without saying anything about their own lies in the past.

From what I know of British judges, he would become a very rich man if he sued - libel damages in the UK are bigger than in the US and Mick deserves them.
