Is that a Webley screw type third bite or other type?

If you're only going to have one double rifle, armbar, it should probably be a Rigby sidelock in .470!

What's with the technical questions? Seriously, I went back to review the posts regarding the Webley screw gip and I'm still not that clear on it. It is a Webley action, and the dolls head is shaped "like a spade with the tip cut off" (from one of 400ne's posts). There is no third bite. These questions are good because they force one to do research.

No I haven't hunted with it yet, and haven't shot it extensively yet. Once I get the recoil pad http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=90899&an=0&page=0#Post90899 sorted out I'll shoot more and report results here. (I hope I did that right)

Well you have great taste for someone that has just one double rifle.

It looks from the pictures to be a very nice and well kept specimen, may I ask what condition the bores are in, and have you had them slugged yet for measurement?

Sinner,

The bores are good to excellent. It actually looks better in person than in the photos. I took the pictures on my living room floor as the sun was going down. The shadows made some nicks look deeper than they really are. No never slugged them.
Should I?

So far no thoughts of selling, but I'll keep you in mind.

Sounds neat.

Yes, I would slug them so you know the exact inside diameters, this will show you just how much she has been shot. I always have the bores slugged prior to buying a vintage double rifle, even if the bore looks good to the naked eye.

Ken Eversull, David Yale, Owen, are all good choices, and are 100% trustworthy with such a gun.

Keep me in mind should you want to cash out.

Hopdoc - the "other" is called a
Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite.

Armbar, Beautiful rifle! It is a screw grip action as 500 Nitro says.
In your pic of the breech face you can see the 'screw grip' behind the
dolls head recess. When you push the top lever over you can see the slot
that the extension at the back of the dolls head slides into. When you
release the top lever,the 'screw grip' rotates over the extension locking
the barrels in the down position.

Wow. I grew up in the town of Rigby, Idaho. That's about as close as I'll probably ever get to a Rigby rifle. Beautiful.
