Blowing into the muzzle

Just heard about blowing into the muzzle of a double to test tightness. I tried it and it seems to be reasonably accurate. One double I have that is "off-face" allowed some air out and the others did not.

Could be a good "field" test in a pinch.

As much as it might be a good "filed" test,
firsty, what if the Double Rifle has gas vents built
into the face of the action. Would kind of defeat the test ?

Second, what's wrong with taking the fore end off and
just half opening the action an ddoing the normal test ?

Might be a good idea. I do think it ought to remain behind closed doors and among consenting adults.

To me a normal test requires a feeler gauge.

Can you imagine walking in on someone when they are performing this test!?

Gee, it would be awfully difficult to explain. You would probably suggest putting them on the 24 hour suicide watch!

Meanwhile they would be screaming---"I was just testing my gun like they told me to do on the internet, is all!"

However, and joking aside, it does seem like a reasonable low cost field test.........

Know a guy who say a lady do that on a 600 Nitro double--He ended up marrying her..
