I wanted an example of a Mauser by one of the guild makers and couldn't pass up this Nordheim stutzen. A 9x57 created in 1928 with a pile of nice features as you can see in the photos. Enjoy.

Exqusite rifle! Is that a Greener type safety on the side or is it a cross bolt in the stock?

Hey Don

That is one beautiful rifle and it's in such great condition. Some of your other gems might be worth more money but this one is definitely my pick. I guess they are like paintings and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I covet this one :^)
I have always marveled at the quality of craftsmanship from some of the custommakers during the 20s and 30s. Thanks again for the pictures and thank you Mehulkamdar for posting them.

That is a neat one! What great features! Horn trigger guard, Greener safety, bullet trap, basket stamped horn horn butt, full ribbed barrel, and fully engraved (nice engraving, too!)! Whoever ordered that one must have said "Everything."!!! Great example of the Gunmaker's Art.
How does it handle with the short, full ribbed barrel? All of the slick stutzens and such that I've handled with full ribbed barrels didn't have the 'feel' of a non-ribbed barrel. The one exception is a G&H Kurtz Mauser that I own. No Mannlicher stock but just a sweet little carbine with about an 18-20 inch barrel.
Again, GREAT piece!

On page 54 of W. Darrin Weaver's excellent "DESPERATE MEASURES; The Last Ditch Weapons of the NAZI Volkssturm" {Collector Grade Publications 2005}, there is a picture taken from a 1944 newsreel of a queue of Volkssturmmänner, one of which has a half-stocked rifle with double-set triggers and a bolt handle that appears to be identical or very close to this Nordheim.
