flip up moon sights
      #86937 - 11/10/07 01:08 AM

Hello Gentelmen,
I was hoping ya'll could help me out.
I have a customer that would like me to reproduce an English style flip up night sight, moon sight, to go on a custom double he is having built. I have exactly one picture to work from.

Do any of you DR enthusist have this type of sight on your rifles, and more importantly would you be willing to post some good clear closeups from various angles?

Thanks,
Rusty

The one on my H&H is very similar to the one here:

When the nightsite part is folded down it fits into a recess in the rid.

Here is a typical Jeffery 'Moon Sight', in this case on Norm C_'s .333 Flanged with 'Prowling Tigers' engraving. It's almost identical with mine, only difference is the ivory main bead.

Actually, this one sits a little proud, they should be flush when folded down, needing a fingernail to lift into position. I'll photograph mine in the up and down positions when time permits.

Here are some moon sights. They are the HH style available from NECG. Very effective for larger calibers.

Frank:
That moon sight is a bit "over the top" !

You've just reminded me, haven't photographed my Jeffery yet.
